Message from the GREAT GRANDSON of DICK GARRETT's BROTHER received by site's web form:

"I read this website with great interest. On the wall in my home in Stockholm, Sweden, I have photo of Penarth Rugby Team from late 1870:s. I got it from my mother. On the back she has written top right Grandfather, bottom left brother Tom, 3rd left brother Dick - famous player for Wales, funeral a mile long. I´m very glad - and proud- to have been able to know a little bit more about my great grandfather and his brothers - especialy Dick Garrett.
Yours Peter Håkansson"

Great find. Great site too! This belongs in a museum for sure - in Wales I might add! Best of luck with finding a suitable and worthy home for it.

A superb piece of Welsh Sporting History, which should never leave the Welsh shores, very intricately made and what fantastic find, something that should end up in a museum.

Wonderful find - a medal of considerable importance and worthy of the great interest shown. As a part of Welsh history it really should stay here in Wales.

This peace of Fantastic memorabilia should stay in Wales,But it may be moved on to a foreign country and that would be a shame,

Judging by the comments of other Welsh fans we should be having a huge 'whip round' to make sure this facinating piece of history stays in Wales and does not end up in Dubai or worse still England!

Well, what a superb find and an important part of Welsh Rugby history - If only I could win the lottery so that I could buy it and ensure that it is available for viewing by all interested Welsh Rugby fans. (being a scarlet, I am jealous)

Looks like a superb and historic part of Welsh Rugby heritage. Surely, this should be on public display, either in the museum of the WRU or the intended new rugby museum of Wales. Can this be saved for Wales???

this historic object is probably the earliest medal of welsh rugby and apparently is earlier than any simular english medals.
As such it would be really correcy for the medal to saty in wales and be appreciated by the welsh rugby public.

To older Welsh Rugby fans this is classed as "National Treasure", Medals as rare as this have their own place in the history of Welsh Rugby and its good to a well designed site. Hope to see it in the National Museum of Wales!

In 53 years of collecting and 20 years of dealing, I have seen most things in the coin and medal "world", but never one of these. Fascinating and really rare!
